Also…
I worked on Sopranos and know for a fact that David Chase had that ending planned out, and so since it caused a similar outrage as the ending to Inception, I will take a leap of faith and trust in our leader, Christopher Nolan, even though I hated Memento. It was the ’90s and I distinctly remember coming home from the movie and writing in my journal how much I hated it. In fact, where is that journal, hang on…
Going on imdb.com to see when Memento actually came out so I can pinpoint its mention in my teenaged journalings… Aha, 2000. Okay, so I it’s not my 1998-1999 journal, hang on again…
Aha! 5-16-01 “Just got home from seeing Memento, which was terribly depressing, though I knew going into it it that it would be, and that by film’s end, I would be terribly depressed, which I am…“ Okay wow, it is really weird to go back and read your journals from 10 years ago, I don’t know that I’d recommend it. Um let’s see… yeeeaahh I thought I wrote more about the film but really I just kind of immediately descended into, um, my thoughts, which are not really Tumblr-appropriate… yikes.
I think I should see Memento again, I was clearly not in a good space, and I want to like it, so I’ll give it another try. Holla Netflix!
INCEPTION!
This is the inception of the Ettes’ official Tumblr page (run mostly by chatterbox Coco) but our first topic of conversation (SPOILER ALERTS ACCIDENTALLY ABOUND, SORRY!) shall be the currently released film Inception by Christopher Nolan. Eventually we’ll move on to the Magnificent Ambersons, Jules et Jim, anything concerning Antoine Doinel, of course we’ll get in some Kurosawa, An American Hippie in Israel, and also Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. OR I’ll just yammer from the road. A healthy mix of both, that’s what I predict.
Anyway, the ending is to be expected, and I also like the ending of the Sopranos, so there.
